Manchester United will be offered investment in exchange for future TV rights revenue

According to The Times, Manchester United's owners, the Glazer family, are poised to be paid a financial lump sum in exchange for a portion of future TV revenue to help fund the club's Old Trafford stadium development.

According to reports, the Glazers are examining multiple investment options, including a loan or selling a minority ownership in United.

The other alternative, which industry sources predict will be offered by investment firms, is to follow Barcelona's lead and strike a contract with a finance business in exchange for a percentage of future TV rights money.

The cost of increasing Old Trafford capacity to 90,000 and improving United's training facility is estimated to be over £200 million (US$236 million).
